Sara, a first year student at TheMOV,  has enrolled in online classes to become an author.  Upon making her payment online from her iPad, Sara receives an automated email from you, the head professor of the English Department.  Keep in mind this email is automated – so you don’t have to do anything.  Also, 90% of the class funds are automatically transferred into your bank account as well.

In the automated email, you welcome her to your class and give her a link to the media library – the online repository where she’ll easily find all the books and videos she needs for class.

She clicks on a link titled, “Knowing Your Grammar.”  Her iPad then opens up an HTML5 video tutorial on proper English Grammar.  She watches this on her bus ride to the beach to see her girlfriends.  The next day, Sara takes a break while at the gym and logs into TheMOV from her iPhone to see what her friends are up to.  While chatting with her best friend, she browses to the Classroom and is immediately welcomed with an outline for your class with quick links to  Wordpress-powered Wiki Handbook designed by last year’s students.

Intrigued, she opens up the handbook and starts reading all from her iPhone, still.  Finding the third article interesting, she clicks the “Like” button.  Ready for a next set, she closes her phone and continues working out.

Later that night, Sara hops back on TheMOV from her laptop and is happy to see a bookmark saved where she left off.

Meanwhile, Jerry hops on his laptop and find that his Handbook points went up.  Jerry is currently enrolled in an internship with HardMagic Publishing during his second year at the University.  Handbook points are crucial for his internship success and he browses to the Handbook to see who awarded him points.  As a teacher assistant, Jerry can see that Sara is new to the class and he sends her a welcome message and adds her to his “fellow students” social network.

Jerry then logs into the Lab and uploads a revised copy of your latest seminar video.  Part of Jerry’s assignment this year is to polish the Handbook and get it ready for publication.  Ultimately, you want the handbook to be sold in bookstores and your assistants will be gaining points to help you do just that.

As Jerry uploads that revised seminar, you receive a notification on your Android.  You watch the video on your screen and add a quick reply, “Looks good, Jerry – great job!  Ally, we are ready for post production.  Please make this top priority next week.”

Your three assistants who you assigned to the video project all receive your email and can also respond from their phones.  For a more in depth look at the project, Ally logs into her desktop and opens the project up in Premiere Pro to finish it.  No quality is lost since all the files are saved on The Lab’s high security server.

Once she’s finished, Ally uploads it back to The Lab where you add it to the required assignments for this years’ students.

The next morning, Sara wakes up to find she has no need to ask questions because the new seminar is available in the Media Library for download.  She puts in her headphones and listens while going on a morning jog.

Below is a list of steps you should take to clean up your desktop.  This method is safe to use on mostPC  desktops, yet we take no responsibility for crashing your computer  If you don’t feel comfortable carrying out these tasks, please ( contact us) info (at) hardmagic (dot) com and you may speak with a technician.

1. Download HiJackThis: A free utility to help clean up your browser.  This helps in a number of areas of browser Hijacks, as the name implies.  You can find it here.

   Run Hijackthis and checkmark Every box.  Let it disable everything then close it out without rebooting.  Proceed to next step.

2. Run MsConfig: Go to Start>Run> type in ‘msconfig’  and press Enter.  Now click on the ‘Startup’ tab.  Here, disable everything by unchecking all boxes.  Again – do NOT reboot.  Proceed to next step.
3. Run RegEdit: Go to Start>Run> type in ‘regedit’ and press Enter.  Go to HKEY_Local_Machine>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Run. In the left hand column, you’ll find all the values.  Highlight each and delete them.  Close out RegEdit.
4. Reboot System: Reboot your system and disable the dialogue box that pops up.  Your computer should now run alot faster without pop-ups or viruses.  Congratulations!

Keep in mind that we hire 99% of our employees through our internship program. So if you are just starting out in writing, I would advise to go that route. Though, we also bring on veteran writers who are already well versed in health and fitness from time to time. If this is you, then please do the following:

1. Sign up on TheMOV.org
2. Indicate you wish to get published when filling out your profile.
3. Treat your online profile as your resume – uploading your picture and filling out all info.
4. In the “My Articles” section, upload an article based on the criteria found on this page
5. Send MOVMail to Matt introducing yourself and expressing your interest in our company.

We are published in many major publications, write many books on health & fitness, and have a few of our own online publications such as TheSBON.  Those on TheMOV have the opportunity to write for these mediums simply by uploading incredible articles to their account.  The criteria for #4 is listed below:

Once you have gotten to #4, you will want to read our article on how to get published.  If your article isn’t formatted in this manner as a content article, then we will assume you don’t know how to follow directions and won’t have a desire to work with you.  There is a big difference between academic writing and real publications and this difference in writing styles is our main drawback in publishing someone.  So pay attention to all the details when writing your article.  You can access all other articles by users on this link.

 1. No entry fee is required, and all rights in the story remain the property of the author. All types of fiction are welcome with the exception of poetry.

2. All entries must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person’s universe, without written permission will result in disqualification. Excessive violence or sex, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.

3. To be eligible, entries must be works of prose, up to 10,000 words in length.

4. The Contest is open only to those who have not had professionally published a novel, short novel, short stories, or other mediums which would deem them an author.  Professional publication is deemed to be payment for work with at least 5,000 copies sold.

5. Entries must be digital and submitted through our webform.  Upon submission, HardMagic Publishing retains all rights to any story, part of story, or idea submitted.  Stories which do not win in our competition may be published in our other publications as runner-ups and credit will be given to authors.

6. All entries must be written by students of english or writing classes in an accredited university between 2008-2010 who are able to provide transcripts of enrollment.

7. Applicants may only make one submission for the contest.

8. All entries are final. No revisions are accepted.

9.  Entries will be judged by professional authors. The decisions of the judges are entirely their own, and are final.

10. Winners in each quarter will be individually notified of the results by email.

Submit Your Story

There are no boundaries as to what can be written for this competition. Simply write a short story 2,000-10,000 words and submit with our form below. Deadline for entries is Nov. 1st 2010, though the earlier you submit your story the more editors’ eyes will get a chance to see it. The style of writing is for entertainment and our demographic caters to the same audience who would read Catcher in the Rye, Huckleberry Finn, and Of Mice and Men.

Winners will be notified by January 10th, 2011 and will receive one copy of their book once it is published. All entries must be from college students enrolled between 2008-2010 for English classes & we will verify this with the winners’ English teachers.

The third site is the actual classroom. This is based on Moodle and was fully customized by our staff to have a unique look and feel. This section cannot be seen by the public and requires users sign up. Statistics on how often the student logs in, what section they go to, and more can all be done from this site. There are quizzes available, video & written tutorials, PDF books, and more. Such an elaborate website that you’d never guess was part of the design had you just seen the front page!

Students may conveniently log in to the classroom right on the main page of the KIWI Website. Since designed with Moodle, teachers may upload course material in the convenience of their home-office and may learn how to design their classroom as easily as they might learn how to use WordPress. Ease of use for the end-user & business owner is of utmost importance with our web design.
