Starting out as a budget web design company in 1996, HardMagic is a nonfiction publishing company headquartered in Santa Barbara, CA. HardMagic is just one of five companies owned by author and business entrepreneur Matt Hackney, geared towards promoting physical well being, as well as Publishing and Marketing success.
Managed solely from the web, HardMagic offers the opportunity for many individuals seeking to better either their writing or fitness careers to work remotely, from anywhere in the country. Through phone, email, and online chat rooms, HardMagic is in constant contact with affiliates around the country, granting them access to all companies associated with HardMagic. Through our company they can utilize the many online tools we provide to our employees to build websites, edit and publish articles, and become actively involved in the overall process of marketing and publishing books.
Each year HardMagic publishes approximately 8 books, with clients in over 20 states. Though strictly non-fiction, both poetry and biography books are often published as well, in addition to the many DVD’s, magazine articles, and websites published annually. Everything surrounding the HardMagic publishing process is strictly green, utilizing alternate energy practices such as the Lightening Source Short Run, a process in book printing which allows book quantity flexibility in order to avoid excess inventory, thus wasting less paper.
Partnered with over six universities across the country, HardMagic also offers flexible internships throughout the year, affording college students the chance to jump start their publishing or creative writing careers. By integrating the importance of health and wellness with the exciting world of publishing, HardMagic offers hands on experience working alongside fitness professionals creating websites, magazine articles, and books. Through our six-month internships, it is our goal that every intern walks away from the internship with at least one published article, as well as having learned the tools necessary to take them a step further in their careers.
